Hi guys! I finally did it! I’ve been talking about it forever, but bigger projects kept getting in the way. Last weekend, I finally got the yellow front door I’ve been wanting. (Actually, my involvement went as far as picking the color. My lovely husband painted it for me. He didn’t love doing it. But he likes it now!)
We had a black door before. It was a classic choice for our gray house with white trim, but I have always wanted a house with a yellow door. Actually, I love yellow houses; but, when a hail storm afforded us new siding, gray seemed like a wiser choice. And it goes with every season.
But, oh, how a painted door–especially a yellow front door–can change the whole look of a house. I don’t know why I lived so long with plain ol’ black. I mean, I’ve even written about how a cheerfully painted door can dramatically boost your curb appeal, so I shouldn’t have been surprised by the outcome. Even so, I danced a little jig when I stood back in the driveway to see if I liked the color.
Isn’t she a beaut?
Speaking of the color, it’s Golden Pagoda by Valspar. It has a slightly muddy hue that I love with our gray-green siding. The golden tone feels richer than the canary and chartreuse yellows I originally considered.
It looks pretty fantastic with fall mums, I have to say. I imagine I’ll go with greenery and metallics come Christmastime. Or maybe I’ll go nuts with color and make a wreath with blues, reds, and greens for the holidays instead. As for the Fourth, a boxwood wreath with a blue and white bow, perhaps?
In any event, our new yellow door brightens up our place like nothing else ever has. I highly recommend trying a new hue to help your home make a great first impression.
