Built-In Dog Crates

February 22, 2016 by Valerie Ott 2 Comments

hidden dog crates

Hi guys!  So we have a problem.  We have a love-hate relationship with our dog crate.  See, our dog Leo is the sweetest–and plenty smart, too–but he gets super-anxious when we leave him at home.  Luckily, I work from home so this doesn’t happen a lot.  He happily goes in his crate when we leave, but he’s a big(ish) dog, so we don’t like him to be in there for too long.  We tried to get rid of his crate and simply close our bedroom door so he could stretch out on our bed and get to his water dish.  No dice.  I lost a slipper, two pillows, an antique quilt, and some door trim thanks to those few experiments, so back to his crate he went.  It would be so nice to be able to hide those ugly dog crates, though.  Better yet, how about a DIY dog crate that’s built right in somewhere?  I thought I’d round up some crazy-clever ideas in case you, too, have a dog with serious separation anxiety or just don’t love the look of your pet’s bed.

I love these!  I think the crate hidden under the bench is the easiest idea to implement…and the quickest solution to our problem.  I think I may just have to give that a try.  Poor Leo’s struggle is real.  We’re going to have to do something soon.
