Recipe of the Week: Copycat Orange Sheet Cake

October 15, 2014 by Valerie Ott Leave a Comment

Hey there, everybody! Hope you’re having a great week. Anyone enjoying an Indian Summer this year? We’ve had a beautiful day today, but it’s gonna turn cold again, I hear. If your days have been gray, here’s a recipe to cheer you. I got this from Paula Deen…and I didn’t change a thing (except the name). I know. Should I really be posting a recipe that I didn’t at least tweak a little? Can I call myself a blogger? Weeellll, I don’t know where you come down on such things, but sometimes I think it’s nice to know if a recipe has been tried and what others’ success with it has been. So in that vein, here are my notes:

I changed the name to sheet cake because to me, that’s what it was. You make these in a 9 x 13 pan and they aren’t chewy like a brownie. The squares are definitely more cake-like. The glaze is perfection and the amount of citrus is definitely enough to let you know it’s there. I always worry that there won’t be enough of a citrus kick for my liking with recipes like these, but this was just right. These are definitely sweet…a glass of milk is required while eating one.

So there you go. Paula, I love ya, girl (fist bump). And the link to the recipe again…
