Hey, hey! If you follow me at all, then you’ve gathered two things in recent weeks: I’m obsessed with trays and I love that quiet coastal look. I’ve posted about both topics a lot (ad nauseum?) here on Home Made Modern, and over at my About.com home. And now, I’ve combined my love of both!
Remember those two trays I bought from my neighbor Michelle’s garage sale? I made one into a breakfast tray, and I turned the other into a centerpiece for our dining room table.
This took, lemme see…2 minutes to make? Ok, to be fair, I already had the trio of burlap-wrapped vases. And I guess I should back up the truck to say I stained this one at the same time as my breakfast tray. Alright, alright…it took 10 minutes to make. Still good, though, right? After the stain dried, I dumped in some small rocks (this took 2 bags of the greeny-blue ones), and filled in with some larger ones (1 bag), then propped up some starfish. I bought the rocks at Jo-Anns, but then saw that Dollar Tree sells similar ones. The starfish I already had.
But here’s the beauty of this. When summer is over, I can easily see filling the tray with acorns, or fall leaves, or vintage Christmas bulbs, even. Pretty versatile, eh?
