Summer is waning. I know, it doesn’t officially end until the 3rd week of September; but, is there anyone out there who feels it isn’t over the day school starts? But it’s not solely for the fact that our daughter(s!) start school in a few weeks that I feel this way. The cicadas–summer’s fat lady–are a-singin’. When I think about it, we’ve actually checked a lot of the boxes on our summer fun list. We went to a drive-in; hiked in the river; caught fireflies; made s’mores; spent the day at the zoo; picked strawberries; enjoyed concerts in the Valley; and picnicked. And YET…there are a few more things I’d like to do before we flip to fall. I’m not ready. Our Ohio summer has been unseasonably cool, we’ve been uncharacteristically busy, and well…I still feel a bit cheated. Maybe if I can squeeze out a few more drops of summer on vacation, I’ll be ready for sweaters and football…but until then, here’s what I want for the rest of summer.
Get to a county fair
See the fields of “home” (i.e. Northwest Ohio)
Walk the pier
Eat a great tomato
Read…followed by a great nap
Make homemade lemonade
