Hi there! Does this qualify as better late than never? I’ll let you be the judge.
So I’ve been itching for a project, but was in a creativity rut. Then all of a sudden, inexplicably, the juices started flowing again. (I kinda hate that turn of phrase. Flowing juices, especially juices that are presumably from your brain…gross. But there you have it.) Anyhoo, this was almost a project fail. But I hung in there. I was at the Dollar Store the other day, hoping inspiration would strike, when I saw these mirrors for $1 each. I started laying them out on the floor and decided, “Yeah…could be cool, but I don’t need another mirror.”
Fast forward to 2 days ago, when I’m laying in bed staring at an empty wall and thinking, “What in blazes could I put on that wall?” You get the picture.
I first thought I could attach all of the mirrors together to make one big mirror and it would be so easy. Well, after taping all of them together with packing tape on the seams in the back, it was still very flimsy. Mind you, these mirrors weigh like, nothing. So I reinforced the whole thing with a large piece of cardboard that I hot-glued to the back. The back ain’t pretty. It still isn’t entirely stable if I’m being completely honest. It coulda done with more tape…preferably duct tape (of which I had none). But hanging it on the wall as one piece required fewer nails, that’s for sure, so in case I want a change…no big deal. If you’d like some Dollar Store style in your home, you can do as I did and slap the mirrors together, or you can hang them all separately but with no spaces in between. Either way, you score style points for very little dough.
