Hey there! So I want you to know I’m stalling. I’ve got projects I should get to (like hemming curtains), and projects that I’d like to start (like sewing a slipcover for our beloved, but stained couch); but, I just can’t seem to muster up the energy for anything BIG these days. Tiny tweaks are all I can handle. They might not make for earth-shattering, Pinterest-worthy blog posts, but I hope you can relate. So here’s one:

I know, right? But it makes me happy not to look at the burgundy book anymore because I covered it with an old map. And the brown floral magazine files were not quite right, either, so I spray painted them and decoupaged on some more of those trompe l’oeil bin labels from Country Living. (I did this to my recipe box, too, after spraying it a happy yellow.)

I also tweaked some accessories on our Ikea Vittsjos. I’m still really happy we purchased these, but I’m thinking I will give them Centsational Girl’s treatment one of these days. If I ever get motivated. Anyway, I found an old Polaroid for a couple of bucks, and put it in front of a stack of Nancy Drews. And our vacation memory jar makes me smile when I see it with the driftwood and map art.

Finally, I snagged an old metal planter from a garage sale this summer and it sat empty all season long. Since our deck is seeing less action in these waning days of summer and my annuals back there have withered, I decided to dismantle things a bit out back in favor of sprucing up the front stoop. I’m so excited that the mums I planted last year are going to bloom (I’ve never had success sticking them in the ground before), so I’m anxious to get some pumpkins to add to their color. To help in the meantime, I stole our fern from the deck and plopped it in the metal planter. I had to put a cinder block from the garage on its end inside the planter to prevent it from blowing over, and to give the fern something to sit on. Now I’m wondering, should I paint something on the planter? That seems like something small I could do.
So there. A few tiny tweaks that make me happy. What have you been up to? Big projects? Little ones? I feel like a bogus-blogger these days, but I tend to ebb and flow with creativity. Thanks for hanging in there with me!
