Pantry Staples Checklist

August 7, 2013 by Valerie Ott Leave a Comment

Good morning! Normally on Wednesdays I post a recipe of the week; however, today I thought it would be fun to let you know what’s in my pantry.

The items on this list are what I use to make most of the meals my family likes. Your list may look a little different, or maybe you don’t even have a list, in which case this might be a good jumping off point for you. Of course there are things I pick up at the store that are specific to certain recipes. Maybe I need some water chestnuts, or raisins, or green onions…but, if our pantry is stocked, it’s surprising how many meals I can make with the simple addition of some produce or meat. Not only that, it makes cooking so much easier when you already have the basics.

If you’re starting from scratch, it may take some time to get your pantry fully loaded, but if you add a few things to your grocery list each week, you won’t notice it in your wallet. If you’re new to cooking, or would like to start making more meals from scratch, this list should help you. Also, I wrote a post a while back on how different flavors combine to make certain styles of food. Nothing fancy, just a guide for what spices to use when. Hope you find this helpful!
