Guys, I’m so excited about a recent find! I bought these horse bust bookends at a junk shop for 5 bucks.
I wanted them white, though, so I sprayed them, and now they look like the ceramic ones I’ve been seeing around blogland:
Now, here’s the kicker…I found the exact same bookends on One Kings Lane for $99, marked down from $179! They were being sold by Gallery Fifty-Two and were described as “vintage.” So did I make a mistake by spraying them white? Nah…For some reason, the clear glass screamed 1980s art deco to me, which just isn’t my style. I know, I know. They were “vintage.” But I like ’em better this way.
So there. In any case, I did a Google search for white ceramic horse bookends, and every set I found is going for way more than the 5 clams I plunked down, so I’m happy. I achieved the look I wanted…for much less. By the way, here’s the paint I used. It worked great on the glass.
I plan on using these in our Luxe for Less master bedroom. Whatcha think?
