Spray Paint + Lamps = LOVE

May 16, 2013 by Valerie Ott 31 Comments

Hello, lovelies. How are you this fine day?

Don’t you just love that it’s spray paint weather? Some people enjoy warmer days for open windows and long after-dinner walks. I look forward to spring and summer because I can spray everything I’ve been wanting to change all winter!

Lamps are the easiest things to change dramatically, in my opinion, with just a little spray paint. Even one of those tiny cans will do. I had two Target lamps that needed overhauled with paint and new shades. (Funny enough, I bought the new shades at Target, too.)

Exhibit A

This lamp was by the bed in our new navy and pink guest room, but it was all wrong. I think the gold and white accents in this room work much better. As a sidebar, take a look at the plates on the navy wall…I sprayed the plate holders gold, too.

>
Exhibit B

This one was all wrong, too. When I bought this lamp base not too long, I really wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t convince myself. I like it soooo much better now with the off-white base, and the new shade. Oh, and to go along with my recent gold obsession, I painted just a stripe of gold along the bottom. See? Please ignore how dusty this table is. Yikes!

That’s it for today…two new-to-me lamps! Hey, lamps are expensive, right? I’m glad I was able to save these two from the Goodwill pile.

Looks great – I love that shade!! Good call on the gold stripe – subtle and interesting.

I love this! There are a lot of DIY blogs I pass through and not many of them have good finishing skills. This is done so well!

I am always spray painting lamps! I rarely ever get rid of a lamp because I know a can of spray paint will turn it into something amazing! Yours look great! Would love it if you would link this up to Give Me The Goods Monday: 1 Party, 4 Blogs! http://www.rainonatinroof.com/2013/05/give-me-goods-monday-link-party-9.html

Thankfully I live in California where I can spray paint almost year around. I think I have almost every type of spray paint available and I get giddy when something new comes out. There probably should be some type of addiction group for us spray paint lovers. Glad I am not alone.
The lamps look great, what type of paint did you use for the gold one?

Oh, you ARE lucky. Those of us in cold climates who love to spray paint are totally jealous. 🙂 The gold paint I used was Krylon's Premium in 18k Gold Plate. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much, Jenna, I WILL stop by soon. 🙂 Yep, I'm with you on the lamp thing. I rarely pass one at a thrift store that I think I can't "save."

Love them both! You did a wonderful job! I am currently in love with the brushed gold color as of recent, so I love the black-to-gold lamp! And I love, love the lampshade on the other! Found you via Southern Lovely! Thanks so much for sharing!

Wow – they look awesome! Lamp makeovers are some of my favourite transformations:) I never buy a new lamp anymore. I especially love the curvy fun lines on the first one. Thanks for sharing them!

I love the white lamp. I recently just made over a couple flea market brass lamps. You can check them out on my blog. If you do stop by, I would love it if you would link your lamps up to my link party that is going on.

I'm visiting from your share at Reasons to Skip the Housework. I'm such a sucker for lamps and making them over! I did a post on my obsession a few weeks ago. I have some things I want to transform with spray paint and I'm having trouble deciding on colors, the paints have gotten such good colors now.

Ah, shoot, I wish I could say I made it, but it's a Target find. Didn't cost much, though. Would probably be just as much or more to make one yourself. Sometimes I give myself permission just to buy something rather than make it, ya know?

Love the lamp makeover – aqua to white. The shade you selected is beautiful. That would go perfectly in my living room!
