Presto Chango: Velcro-Embellished Wreath

March 5, 2013 by Valerie Ott 17 Comments

Hey there! Remember my Cozy Felt Flower Wreath? Well, it’s now brightened up to reflect the almost-spring time of year. Around here the breeze is still c-c-cold, and we are still getting snow, but when the sun comes out, it feels a leeeeeetle warmer. So I wasn’t quite ready for full-blown spring-has-sprung on the front door. Plus I just loved my wreath and wasn’t done looking at it. So I kept the cozy felt and the gray…but added some yellow and a bird nest.

Thanks to these Velcro buttons, changing my wreath to fit the season was as easy as…

I’m so glad I wasn’t hasty with my glue gun when I originally made this yarn wreath. As many of you might already know from first-hand experience, it takes a month of Sundays to wrap one of these things. Instead, I attached all of the embellishments with Velcro so it’s a snap to change things up.

In case you’re wondering, I used the same technique to make the yellow roses as I used to make the blue ones from before. The tutorial is from Paper & Stitch. I found the bird nest at The Dollar Store.

Until next time…

Makes me so happy when I read about yet another blogger finding ways to be able to change things without a big deal and headaches. So smart of you. I've never wound yarn around a wreath since I'm pretty impatient to take time. Someday maybe.
Your wreath is inspiring, love your felt flowers and bird nest. Great project.
    Happy March

I love this idea. I have seen this done with clips on the back of the flowers and stuff, but I imagine velcro would hold better if you have to worry about wind. I found you on Classy Clutter's link party and I'll be following you from now on.
