Hey there, everyone! I know I’m not the first to lament this cruddy weather here in Ohio, but allow me to add my 2 cents by saying if I have to endure another gray, rainy, freezing-cold day I just may lose my mind. Ok. There.
The inside of our house does not match the outside, at least. I totally copied an idea I featured a couple of weeks ago because I thought it was sheer genius. Happily, it was just as easy as it looked. After picking up some fallen, slender branches from the yard and making a cold trek to our local Dollar Store, I was armed with what I needed. I plucked the blooms off my $1 stem of totally fake-looking forsythia, then hot-glued them to the real branches. Now I have some stems in our foyer that look pretty real, I must say. Next year, I may make tons more of these for a more dazzling display, but I’m digging the simplicity for now. Thanks again to At Home on the Bay for the inspiration! Here they are on the shelf in the foyer:
As for the front door, I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to my Presto Chango Spring Wreath, but I wanted to use a forsythia wreath I bought at Target last year. I decided to add a little blue to match the blue glass vases in our foyer. I already had three of these tiny nests, and you know I love anything avian (except the flu), so this was a no-brainer. (A bird-brainer?) I really love this little tweak, which cost me nothing; and, since I just secured the nest on with bread ties, I can easily remove it if I change my mind in the future.
Hope this puts some spring in your step…let’s hope for some warmer weather SOON!
