It’s funny how nostalgic I’m getting about our current house, despite the fact that we’ve desperately been trying to get rid of it for the past 10 months. But now that we’ve only got a few weeks left in it, I keep thinking about the things I like about it. Ok, it has NO closet space, a small kitchen and only 1 bathroom, but it’s got character. Charm.

And though our kitchen is small, I’ll miss its character, including the butcher block countertop that was once used in my husband’s family’s restaurant. I’m also sad to leave the front porch and its old-fashioned swing, our hedgerow, and the sundrops I planted on the corner of the house.
The house we’re moving to is bigger, in a nicer neighborhood, and newer…but right now, it’s just an empty house with a lot of white walls. It’s not a home yet. Nevertheless, I’m very excited about making it into our own, and already have more ideas than I’ll be able to execute in a year. I’m anxious to paint some old dining room chairs I bought for $30 but have never properly used; I can’t wait for the first Saturday morning in our bedroom big enough for a king bed that we can all fit into; and the deck will be perfect for watching the fireworks that are launched in the park nearby. I know our new house will become a home over time. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
