I love that being home with my kids allows me to follow (some of) my older daughter’s whims. We were playing in her room the other day, pretending to bake with–of all things–buckeyes we found on a walk, when she said, “Mommy. We should bake some cookies.” That’s all that needed to be said. I don’t need my arm twisted to bake. So I said, “Right now?” And she gleefully said, “Yes!” So off we went to the kitchen to whip up I didn’t know what while her sister napped. A quick raid of my baking cabinet, which is sadly too small and thus, way disorganized, turned up some mini chocolate chips, an almost-empty tin of baking cocoa and dried cherries. So, perched on the counter in her favorite spot, Liv helped me dump ingredients and then she greedily licked the beaters when we were done. These cookies were the tasty result of our impromptu baking session.
