Hi Friends! So have you seen Fixer Upper on HGTV? If not, do you watch TV at all? This show is everywhere! It’s the biggest home improvement hit since Trading Spaces. Ok, I totally made that up, but it’s huge. And you can count me as one of Chip and Joanna’s millions of fans. I don’t know if I’m lured by Joanna’s dulcet tones, Chip’s cheesy jokes and 12-year old antics, the beautiful Waco scenery, the gorgeous farmhouse makeovers, or all of the above. Probably all of the above. But in any case, being the thrifty gal that I am, I had to round up some DIY projects for you that have spot-on Fixer Upper style.
Joanna’s signature style is definitely farmhouse, with some industrial flavah thrown in. So, think rustic, reclaimed woods, cold metals, and anything distressed. She also favors pretty pottery, greenery, and of course, shiplap. As Chip is famous for saying to his wife, “If you and a French door had a baby, it would be shiplap.” I would love to visit Texas (preferably when the bluebonnets are in bloom) again. I went to San Antonio once and loved it. Lots of people are visiting Waco these days, and not to visit the former compound of the Branch Davidians, either. They’re going for the Magnolia Market, Chip and Joanna’s store. In case you aren’t planning a trip to the Lone Star State anytime soon, though, I’ve got you covered. These DIY projects will get you that Fixer Upper style in no time.
It seems appropriate to start things off with this:
