Hey there, friends! I’m comin’ at ya today with the follow-up to that brief tease about GE reveal® light bulbs I posted on New Year’s Eve. I shared a coupon link with you at that point, which is good for 45 days after printing. I hope you printed it out…but, I’ll share another way for you to save a bit further down.
So anyhoo, GE wanted me to try out their new GE reveal® light bulbs in at least one room. Here’s the package:

I chose our living room for this lighting makeover because it’s, well, the room we live in. Besides the kitchen, it’s where we hang out the most. It just so happened that as I was removing lamp shades and switching bulbs out, my husband and kids were playing a board game that requires keen eyesight and/or good lighting. They were having trouble. Perfect! GE says these halogen bulbs “replace yellow, dingy lighting with crisp white light that makes colors and patterns pop, transforming homes from ordinary to extraordinary with just the flip of a switch.” So after the switcheroo was complete, I asked for a drumroll, and turned all the lamps back on.

Ok, so here’s my honest assessment. Are the before and after shots shockingly different from each other? Not so much. But wait for it…the bulbs aren’t claimed to be brighter; they’re claimed to be whiter, crisper, and cleaner. And they are! Now, I didn’t touch up these photos at all and I still think you can totally tell that the room looks crisper, and the light (if you look at it pooling on the carpet) is less yellow. Here are some other before and afters done by other bloggers:

So the bottom line for me is if the GE reveal® light bulbs are 28% more efficient and shed a cleaner, crisper light…what’s not to love? If you want to try new lighting for the New Year, you can find a great line of GE products, including LED options, at Target. If you didn’t print off that coupon I offered you, not to worry. Simply download Target’s money-saving Cartwheel app, (available on Apple IOS here and Android here), select GE reveal® (and any other savings you need) and head to your local Target for great deals!
I tried out Cartwheel today and really liked it! I didn’t need anything too exciting. Honestly, I needed to make a stop for my blemish concealer, eggs, butter, and a birthday card. So I downloaded the Cartwheel app, searched for things I needed and lo and behold! Eggs and butter were both discounted on Cartwheel today! No extra deals on makeup or greeting cards; but, I noticed while browsing that I could get my favorite K-cups 20% off using the app, so I snagged a box of those, too. My savings equaled 3 bucks on a $30 purchase…not bad! I can imagine that the savings really add up if you shop at Target a lot. The key (from a penny-pincher’s perspective, not from Target’s perspective, I’m sure) is not to be tempted to buy things you don’t need just because you found a good deal on the Cartwheel app. But the app was simple to use, and worked seamlessly at checkout. I’ll be relying on this, for sure. Thanks, Target!
So…stay tuned for a chance at a Target gift card! In the meantime, I’d encourage you to try out the GE reveal® light bulbs. They’re a win-win.
Until next time…

Thanks for your before and after photos. My problem is that I don't like the bright white lights. I never liked them in the workplace and I especially dislike them in my home. The yellow is much more comfortable and cozy, in my opinion.
